| Obverse description | Central design features a full-length armored figure of Roland, the traditional civic guardian of Bremen, standing upright and facing forward while holding a sword in his right hand and a shield bearing the Bremen eagle in his left. Roland is depicted before a tall flagpole flying the city's banner, flanked on either side by prominent architectural landmarks of Bremen rendered in fine relief. The curved legend CIVITAS HANSEATICA arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1958 and the city name BREMA appear in the lower exergual area, separated by decorative dots. |
