The portrait is rendered in high relief in the Baroque manner, with elaborate drapery and articulated armour visible at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend identifies the sovereign as FRANCISCVS D. G : ROM · IMP · SEMP · AVG ·, running along the inner border of the reeded rim.
