Obverse description Three oval heraldic shields arranged in a triangular composition, each bearing the arms of Nuremberg, flanked by two cornucopiae issuing from below and surmounted by a cherub's head at the apex. The shields rest on an ornate baroque cartouche within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend reads MONETA NOVA REIPUB. NORIMBERGENSIS. 1694., with the date incorporated at the conclusion of the inscription.

Reverse description Double-headed imperial eagle displayed, with wings spread and each head crowned individually beneath a large central imperial crown, the breast charged with a quartered shield bearing the Habsburg arms. Elaborate feather detailing covers the wings and body in high relief. The circumferential legend reads LEOPOLD. D.G. ROM. IMP. S. A. GERM. HVNG. BOH. REX., identifying the Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I as the imperial authority.
