| Obverse description | Central device depicts a stylized atomic model with three elliptical electron orbits and four spherical electrons surrounding a sunburst nucleus, rendered in relief against a flat field. The country name legend ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ curves along the upper periphery in archaic-style Greek lettering. Below the atomic device, the denomination ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ 10 is inscribed in two lines, with the date flanking the numeral 10 at the bottom of the field. |

Greece returned to civilian rule in 1974 after seven years of military junta, and the coinage of this period reflects the transitional politics of the new republic. The "old lettering" designation distinguishes this type from a later restyled issue — the script change was modest but deliberate, part of a broader standardization of Greek official typography under the restored democratic government. Production ran through the final years of the Athens mint's adjustment to peacetime civilian oversight.
