Obverse description The obverse displays the Singapore coat of arms at centre, comprising a shield supported by a lion and a tiger, surmounted by a crescent and five stars, with a ribbon below. The date 1984 appears beneath the coat of arms in the lower field. The border legend is inscribed in Singapore's four official languages — Malay (SINGAPURA), Mandarin (新加坡), English (SINGAPORE), and Tamil (சிங்கப்பூர்) — arranged around the periphery. The national motto MAJULAH SINGAPURA is also present in the legend.
