Aanvullende informatie

Singapore's Lunar New Year collector series launched in 1976 with the Year of the Dragon and cycled through the zodiac under the Board of Commissioners of Currency, which retained sole authority over currency issuance until the Monetary Authority of Singapore absorbed that function in 2002. The 1983 Pig issue falls mid-series, during a period when Singapore's economy was navigating the regional aftershocks of the early 1980s recession — demand for these annual releases remained strong enough that the BCCS produced both proof and uncirculated versions in multiple metals simultaneously.

The copper-nickel circulation-quality strikes from this year are frequently found with contact marks from bulk handling, as many were distributed through bank counters rather than purpose-packaged.
