Reverse description A naturalistic goat stands in profile facing right within a raised inner circle at the centre of the field, above which two Chinese characters (辛未) denoting the cyclical year are inscribed. Surrounding the inner circle, the broad border is decorated with relief depictions of all twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac — rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig — arranged in sequence. The denomination legend 10 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower arc between the inner circle and the zodiac border.

Additional information

Singapore's lunar series nickel issues from this period were produced specifically for the domestic gift-giving market around the Lunar New Year, with the Monetary Authority releasing them through commercial banks in presentation packaging. The 1991 goat issue corresponds to the Year of the Xinwei — the eighth in the sixty-year sexagenary cycle — and coincided with Singapore's broader push to cultivate a distinct national identity through culturally resonant commemorative programs following the country's rapid post-independence industrialization.
