Beschrijving voorzijde The national coat of arms of the Republic of Namibia occupies the central field, depicting a heraldic shield charged with a sun and diagonal bands, supported by two oryx antelopes rampant on either side, and surmounted by a fish eagle with wings displayed. Below the shield, a scroll bears the national motto in three parts: UNITY, LIBERTY, and JUSTICE. The legend REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA curves along the lower periphery, with the date 1995 inscribed below the arms. The design is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field.

Aanvullende informatie

Namibia's 1995 United Nations commemorative was issued to mark the country's admission to the UN in 1990 — an event inseparable from the preceding independence process, which ended South Africa's decades-long administration of the territory under a League of Nations mandate that had long since lost any legal legitimacy. The silver version runs parallel to a copper-nickel issue, a two-tier release structure common among Namibian commemoratives of this decade targeting both the collector market and general circulation.
