Additional information

Fiji has no native population of clouded leopards — the species is found across Southeast Asia and southern China — making this a purely commercial wildlife issue, one of dozens produced by Pacific island minting programs in the 2010s that exploited low-cost licensing agreements to flood the collector market with exotic animal themes bearing nominal Pacific sovereignty.

The Reserve Bank of Fiji issued numerous such pieces during this period through third-party minting arrangements, most commonly with the Bavarian State Mint and several private European producers.
