Obverse description Olive-green intaglio print on a light ground. To the left, an oval portrait vignette of the Guangxu Emperor in imperial court dress set against a wave underprint. To the right, a large scenic vignette of the Great Wall with a five-clawed dragon soaring through storm clouds above coastal waters. Denomination numerals '10' appear vertically at each side, with Chinese characters in the upper and lower margins.

Reverse description Blue-green intaglio print on a pale guilloche ground. The centre carries two large Chinese characters 拾圓 (Ten Dollars) within an elaborate lathe-work oval frame. A promise-to-pay text in English curves across the upper field, flanked by ornate foliate corner devices. Large mirror-image '10' numerals with Chinese characters appear vertically at both sides, and the denomination legend is repeated along the lower border.
