Liberia's Central Bank issued dozens of these silver-plated commemorative dollars in the early 2000s, most bearing no meaningful connection to Liberia whatsoever. This piece is squarely in that tradition — a purely commercial product licensed to a private mint and marketed to thematic collectors abroad, with Liberia lending its issuing authority in exchange for a fee. The Swiss national football association had no role in the coin's production.
