正面描述 The national coat of arms of the Republic of the Marshall Islands occupies the central field, depicting a frigatebird with outstretched wings above a traditional Marshallese stick chart navigation device, flanked by palm trees to the left and a traditional outrigger canoe sailing on water to the right, with a radiant sun and a traditional fish trap in the upper field. The design is encircled by a decorative rope-and-chain border. The upper legend reads REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS, with the denomination $10 to the left and the date 1996 to the right, while the Marshallese national motto JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN arcs along the lower border, with the word SEAL inscribed beneath the arms.

背面描述 A finely detailed profile view of the RENFE Class 242 steam locomotive is depicted in high relief, facing right along a section of track, with a billowing plume of smoke rising dramatically above the engine into the upper field. The locomotive's driving wheels, connecting rods, boiler, and tender are rendered with precise mechanical detail. The curved legend TEN DOLLARS arcs along the upper border, while the inscription RENFE CLASS 242 appears in the lower field beneath the locomotive, and the date 1996 is prominently displayed in the exergue.

附加信息

The RENFE 242 was a Spanish steam locomotive class that operated on the Iberian-gauge network during the mid-twentieth century, a workhorse of the postwar reconstruction period when Spain's rail infrastructure was being rebuilt under autarky. The Marshall Islands issued commemorative brass dollars throughout the 1990s targeting the collector market almost exclusively — none of these pieces were ever intended for, or saw, domestic circulation on the islands.

The connection between a Pacific microstate and Spanish railway history is purely commercial, a product of the licensed commemorative coin boom of that decade.
