Beschrijving voorzijde At left, a vignette of Hercules seated and facing left, holding a staff; at right, a vignette of the sailing ship Austin under full sail on open water. Two numeral '10' medallions flank a central allegorical female portrait vignette in the upper portion of the note, with large 'X' counters at lower left and right. The bold central legend reads 'THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS' above 'TEN DOLLARS', with manuscript signatures of the Secretary and President of the Treasury below.
Opschrift voorzijde Receivable for all Government dues. Twelve months after date THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS Promise to pay TEN DOLLARS to the bearer TREASY. DEPARTT.
Beschrijving keerzijde Two ornate guilloche rosette vignettes printed in red ink flank the centre of the note. At centre, a five-pointed lone star is surrounded by the letters of 'TEXAS' arranged in a circular pattern, all printed in red ink, giving the note its distinctive 'Redback' nickname.
