Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features the national coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia prominently centered in the field, depicting a sailing ship on the sea with a palm tree and a rising sun on the shore, surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE.' The legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '10 DOLLARS' is inscribed at the bottom. The date '2000' is divided across the lower field, flanked on either side of the coat of arms. A beaded border runs along the inner rim, framing the design with a crisp, milled finish.

Aanvullende informatie

Liberia's commemorative coinage program around the turn of the millennium was essentially a revenue operation — the Central Bank licensed designs to foreign minting agencies, primarily in the UK and Germany, producing coins with no realistic circulation expectation and minimal connection to Liberian monetary policy. Most never left Europe. KM# 406 is part of that wave, a wildlife-themed issue aimed squarely at the thematic collector market rather than any domestic purpose.
