Additional information

The "Orb and Sceptre" title references the two principal instruments of British royal investiture, and this coin was part of a broader commemorative program issued around the time of various Commonwealth anniversary observances in the mid-2000s. Sierra Leone, despite a brutal civil war that ended only in 2002, maintained its Commonwealth membership throughout the conflict and resumed normal relations with the Crown shortly after the RUF's disarmament.
