| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Sierra Leone occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield supported by two rampant lions, each flanked by a palm tree on a grassy mount. The motto ribbon below reads UNITY FREEDOM JUSTICE in raised lettering. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 2006 appears prominently at the bottom of the field. A beaded inner border frames the entire design. |

| Additional information |
The "Orb and Sceptre" title references the two principal instruments of British royal investiture, and this coin was part of a broader commemorative program issued around the time of various Commonwealth anniversary observances in the mid-2000s. Sierra Leone, despite a brutal civil war that ended only in 2002, maintained its Commonwealth membership throughout the conflict and resumed normal relations with the Crown shortly after the RUF's disarmament.
