The Marshall Islands issued a long-running series of brass "commemorative" dollars throughout the 1990s bearing aircraft, spacecraft, and military subjects — pieces produced entirely for the collector market with no meaningful circulation history. The Mirage 2000C, a French single-engine delta-wing fighter that entered service with the Armée de l'Air in 1984, had no particular connection to the Marshall Islands; the subject was chosen for its international recognition value.
These issues were struck by the Pobjoy Mint under license and were never legal tender in any practical sense.
