Reverse description The reverse depicts the celebrated Jade Head of Kinich Ahau, the Maya sun god, a masterwork of pre-Columbian lapidary art discovered in a royal tomb at Altun Ha, a major Maya archaeological site in Belize. The effigy is rendered in fine detail, capturing the distinctive stylised features of the original jade artefact. The denomination 10 DOLLARS appears in the lower field, with the inscription KINICH AHAU completing the legend around the design.
