Aanvullende informatie

Liberia's commemorative dollar series of the early 2000s swept up an eclectic range of European historical subjects with little connection to the issuing nation — this piece marking the 1683 relief of Vienna being a characteristic example. The siege, broken on September 12th by the combined forces of the Holy League under Jan III Sobieski of Poland, ended the Ottoman Empire's last serious military push into Central Europe.

Struck for the collector market, not circulation. KM#543 is one of dozens of similar issues from this period, produced under licensing arrangements common among smaller nations supplementing reserve income through numismatic sales.
