| 裏面の説明 | A full-length figure of Letitia Tyler, shown in period dress and bonnet, is depicted outdoors bending forward to engage two young children in play before the facade of Cedar Grove Plantation, her Virginia childhood home. The plantation house, rendered in detailed relief with stone masonry and columned porch, occupies the right portion of the field, while outbuildings and landscaping appear to the left. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs along the upper border, with CEDAR GROVE PLANTATION inscribed in the inner field above the scene. The lower border carries the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM flanked by the denomination $10, the weight 1/2 OZ., and the fineness .9999 FINE GOLD, all separated by raised dots. Engravers' initials SG and NEN appear in the lower field. |

Letitia Tyler is one of only two First Ladies never to have lived in the White House — she suffered a stroke in 1839, two years before her husband John Tyler assumed the presidency, and died in the executive mansion in September 1842 having barely left her second-floor room. Her inclusion in the 2009 First Spouse bullion series was largely an act of historical completeness; she left almost no public record and held no political influence.
The series was authorized under the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005, with bullion versions struck in .9999 fine gold alongside proof collector issues.
