| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents an elevated panoramic view of Singapore's Marina Barrage in the foreground, with the iconic skyline of the Raffles Place financial district rising prominently behind it. Two heritage landmarks are rendered in architectural detail: the Fullerton Hotel (formerly the Fullerton Building and General Post Office) and the National Gallery Singapore (formerly the Supreme Court and City Hall). The denomination and date appear within the design field, with the composition of modern high-rise towers contrasting with the classical facades of the heritage structures, evoking Singapore's transformation under Lee Kuan Yew's leadership. |

Issued to mark Lee Kuan Yew's centennial birth year, this piece commemorates the founding Prime Minister who governed Singapore from 1959 to 1990 and is widely credited with transforming the city-state from a British colonial port into one of Asia's wealthiest economies within a single generation. The Singapore Mint has produced LKY commemoratives before, but the centennial designation made 2023 the anchor release of a broader national remembrance program. Aluminium bronze was a deliberate nod to the workhorse coinage metals of Singapore's early independence decades.
