Aanvullende informatie

Guyana's independence from Britain came in 1966, but the commemorative silver coinage marking that milestone took a full decade to materialize. The 1976–1980 window corresponds to the period when Forbes Burnham's government was consolidating its cooperative socialist republic model — nationalization of bauxite and sugar industries was complete, and state-directed commemorative programs fit neatly into the political branding of the era.

The KM#44a designation distinguishes this from the base-metal circulation version; the .925 silver striking was produced for collector markets rather than domestic use, which accounts for the survival rate in essentially unimpaired condition.
