正面描述 The national Seal of the Republic of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a three-masted sailing ship on the sea with a rising sun to the right, flanked by a palm tree and a plow and shovel in the foreground, all within a decorative shield surmounted by a dove in flight. The shield is framed by a wreath of gear-like ornamentation. The legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination TEN DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower periphery, flanked by five-pointed stars.

附加信息

Liberia's 1972 gold inauguration issue marks the beginning of William Tolbert's presidency following the death of William Tubman, who had held office for 27 years. Tolbert's inauguration represented the first transfer of Liberian executive power in nearly three decades — though the transition itself was constitutional rather than electoral, as Tolbert had served as Vice President since 1952.

Tolbert's presidency ended in the 1980 coup led by Samuel Doe, making this coin a fixed marker between two violent ends of power.
