| Obverse description | The obverse features the national coat of arms of Liberia centrally positioned in the field, depicting a sailing ship at sea above a plough and a spade on a shield, flanked by two palm trees with a rising sun in the exergue. The shield is surmounted by a scroll. The date '2002' is split across the lower field on either side of the arms. The outer legend reads 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' along the upper rim, with the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE' arcing around the inner border, and 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' repeated along the lower rim.
