Obverse description The central field displays the full coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia, featuring a three-masted sailing ship on the sea, a palm tree, a plough, and a spade, all surmounted by a dove in flight. A ribbon scroll within the shield bears the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE', and a secondary scroll below reads 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA'. The date '1996' is divided on either side of the shield in the field. Additional information

Liberia's 1990s commemorative program was one of the most prolific — and commercially cynical — in modern numismatic history, licensing virtually any subject with potential collector appeal to foreign minting operators. This Frentzen piece was produced during his Williams years, before his 1997 move to Williams-Renault and the career peak that followed. Liberia had no connection to Formula One motorsport; the issue exists entirely as a bullion-adjacent souvenir targeting European collectors, struck to order by a private mint with no Liberian circulation intended.
