Liberia's mid-2000s gold program produced dozens of $10 pieces on nearly identical flans, targeting the collector market ahead of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. The Hamburg Volksparkstadion — renamed the AOL Arena for the tournament — hosted six matches including a quarterfinal. These issues were never intended for circulation and were sold directly into the philatelic and numismatic trade.
