附加信息	This coin was struck to commemorate the 80th birthday of Emperor Haile Selassie I, who by 1972 had ruled Ethiopia for over four decades — first as regent from 1916, then as Emperor from 1930. Within two years of this issue, he would be deposed by the Derg military junta, dying under house arrest in August 1975 under circumstances that remain disputed. The Franklin Mint produced this and related pieces in the series under contract, part of a broader wave of large-format silver commemoratives it struck for governments worldwide during this period.
