The centre of the note is dominated by a large engraved vignette of the Great Seal of the United States — the eagle within a circular device — surrounded by ornate laurel and scroll work against a finely engine-turned lathe-work background. The issuer and denomination legends are set in bold arched lettering across the upper portion of the design. |
