Obverse description The arms of Singapore occupy the central field, depicting a shield charged with a crescent moon and five five-pointed stars arranged in a circle, supported on the dexter by a lion rampant and on the sinister by a tiger rampant, both rendered in high relief. A scroll beneath the supporters bears the national motto MAJULAH SINGAPURA in Latin lettering. The country name SINGAPURA arcs along the upper periphery in Latin characters, flanked by the Tamil inscription சிங்கப்பூர் to the left and the Chinese characters 新加坡 to the right. The date 1996 and the English legend SINGAPORE appear in the lower field beneath the coat of arms.
