| Reverse description | The Canadian coat of arms as granted by Royal Warrant of Queen Victoria on May 26, 1868, displayed on a shield divided into four quarters representing the founding provinces of Confederation: Ontario (upper left, the Cross of St. George with three gold maple leaves on a green base), Quebec (upper right, a golden lion passant on red above a blue field with three gold fleurs-de-lis), New Brunswick (lower left, an ancient golden galley on wavy blue lines surmounted by a golden lion passant on red), and Nova Scotia (lower right, a royal Scottish lion on gold with a salmon on blue).
