Reverse description The Canadian coat of arms as granted by Royal Warrant of Queen Victoria on May 26, 1868, displayed on a shield divided into four quarters representing the founding provinces of Confederation: Ontario (upper left, the Cross of St. George with three gold maple leaves on a green base), Quebec (upper right, a golden lion passant on red above a blue field with three gold fleurs-de-lis), New Brunswick (lower left, an ancient golden galley on wavy blue lines surmounted by a golden lion passant on red), and Nova Scotia (lower right, a royal Scottish lion on gold with a salmon on blue). The shield is supported by two crossed maple branches below, and the entire design is framed by the legend CANADA and the denomination TEN DOLLARS with the date along the periphery.
