| 背面描述 | The reverse features a rectangular full-color printed appliqué occupying the central field, depicting Giuseppe Garibaldi in his iconic red shirt, standing facing the viewer with his hands clasped before him, a sword at his side, and a mass of charging soldiers rendered in warm tones in the background. The caption GARIBALDI LIBERATES ITALY – 1860 appears in the lower portion of the color panel. Above the panel, a decorative chain motif in relief separates the legend MOMENTS, which arcs along the upper border; a matching chain motif below the panel separates the legend OF FREEDOM, which arcs along the lower border. |

Liberia's commemorative program of the early 2000s drew heavily on European historical figures with no connection to the issuing nation — a common revenue strategy among small states with limited collector bases at home. Garibaldi's 1860 campaign, the Expedition of the Thousand, saw roughly 1,089 volunteers land at Marsala in May of that year and, within months, topple the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The speed of that collapse surprised even Garibaldi himself.
