Additional information

Nauru has no meaningful connection to football and fielded no team for the 2010 tournament. The island's GDP at the time was propped largely by Australian aid following the collapse of phosphate revenues, and its mint program existed almost entirely as a revenue stream targeting thematic collectors rather than any domestic numismatic tradition. KM# 40 is one of several FIFA-licensed issues farmed out to small Pacific sovereigns in this period.
