Additional information

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's "Magical Canada" series launched in 2011, this issue was among the first Canadian collector coins to incorporate a lenticular lens effect — producing a visual shift between a daytime and snowfall scene depending on viewing angle. The technology required a departure from conventional die-striking methods, with the lenticular element bonded to the planchet rather than struck into it.

Struck to .9999 fineness rather than the .999 more common in bullion issues of the period.
