Beschrijving keerzijde Two juxtaposed left-facing portrait busts representing the Spirit of Liberty as depicted on the Morgan Dollar and the Goddess of Liberty as depicted on the Peace Dollar, rendered in ultra-high definition relief against a black pearl-finished field. The dual effigies commemorate the historic transition between the two iconic American silver dollar designs that occurred in 1921. The surrounding and internal legends reference the centennial of this numismatic milestone, with the denomination $10 appearing within the design. The composition highlights the artistic contrast between the two Liberty portrayals, underscoring the significance of the 1921 transition year.

Aanvullende informatie

The "Transition" framing here references the 1921–1922 changeover when the Morgan dollar — minted since 1878 — was discontinued mid-year and replaced by the Peace dollar, itself designed under emergency conditions after Congress mandated a commemorative coin marking the end of World War I. The Morgan's final Philadelphia strikes and the Peace dollar's debut occurred within months of each other, an unusually compressed design succession for U.S. coinage history.

The Pobjoy Mint issued this as part of a broader numismatic series for the British Virgin Islands. The black pearl finish is a proprietary surface treatment Pobjoy applies to selected ultra-high-definition strikes to increase design contrast.
