背面描述 The central silver field features a finely detailed high-relief depiction of a wolf standing in a natural Canadian wilderness setting, with coniferous trees rendered in the background and rocky terrain beneath the animal's feet. The wolf faces right with mouth slightly open, its fur rendered with exceptional engraving detail by Eric Boyer. A wolf paw print appears in relief within the selectively gold-plated band to the left of the central motif, while the date '2013' is inscribed to the right within the same band. The legend 'CANADA' arches across the upper gold-plated border and '10 DOLLARS' is inscribed along the lower gold-plated border, with the gold plating forming a distinctive decorative frame around the silver wildlife scene.

附加信息

The Wolf was part of the Royal Canadian Mint's "Animal Portraits" series launched in 2013, a program designed to compete directly with the collectibles market that the Perth Mint and others had dominated for years. The selective gold plating technique used here — applied to isolate specific design elements against the matte silver field — requires a secondary electroplating process after striking, which introduces its own quality control variables and occasional inconsistencies between specimens.
