| Obverse description | The obverse bears the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting the monarch in right-facing profile as a bare-headed mature portrait, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend 'ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA' arcs along the upper periphery of the field, rendered in Latin script. The effigy is executed in a restrained, neoclassical style characteristic of Blunt's portrait used on Canadian coinage from 2003 onward. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a selectively coloured reconstruction of Borealopelta markmitchelli, the armoured nodosaurid ankylosaur colloquially known as 'The Spiked Lizard,' depicted in full lateral view and rendered in vivid reddish-brown hues with prominent lateral spikes and heavily textured osteoderms highlighted in selective colour against a matte silver field. The dinosaur is set within a naturalistic prehistoric landscape featuring engraved coniferous trees and low vegetation on either side. The legend 'CANADA' arcs along the upper rim, while '10 DOLLARS' appears in the lower exergual area, with the date '2016' inscribed at the lower right along the inner border. |
