| Reverse description | Ultra high relief depiction of the Great Pyramids of Giza rendered as if viewed from an aerial perspective, with the coin's surface sculpted to replicate the undulating desert sands surrounding the pyramids, the highest point of relief rising approximately 4.5 to 5.0 mm above the main face of the coin. The uneven topography of the field evokes the natural dunes of the Egyptian desert, imparting a strikingly three-dimensional and tactile quality to the design. Authentic sand collected from the site of the Great Pyramids by Taya Pobjoy, Manufacturing Director of the Pobjoy Mint, has been encapsulated within the coin. The legend THE GREAT PYRAMIDS appears in the lower portion of the reverse field. |
