| Beschrijving keerzijde | A finely detailed Hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), known locally in Fiji as the Taku, depicted swimming dynamically across the central field with flippers outstretched and its distinctive scute-patterned carapace rendered in high relief. The turtle is shown in a three-quarter perspective, conveying motion and naturalistic detail. The legend FIJI TAKU arcs along the upper portion of the field, while FINE SILVER .999 5 OZ appears along the lower portion, attesting to the coin's precious metal content. |

The "Taku" name comes from the Fijian word for turtle, and the series was produced by the New Zealand Mint under license — one of several Pacific-themed bullion programs that emerged in the late 2000s as sovereign mints and private producers scrambled to offer 5-troy-ounce silver rounds with legal tender status attached. Fiji's role here is nominal; the Reserve Bank issued the authorization, but design and production decisions were made in Auckland.
The 2011 issue was the inaugural release in what became an annual series, giving it modest collector priority over subsequent dates.
