Obverse description The national arms of Barbados displayed centrally within a beaded border. The shield, supported by a dolphin (fish-tailed figure) to the left and a pelican to the right, bears two pride-of-Barbados flowers and is surmounted by a helmet with mantling and a crest comprising an arm holding two crossed pieces of sugarcane. The national motto appears on a scroll beneath the shield reading PRIDE AND INDUSTRY. The date is split to either side of the arms, flanked by trident symbols, with the legend BARBADOS arching along the lower field.
