| Additional information |
Fiji issued this coin to mark the 25th anniversary of Elizabeth II's accession, part of a wave of Commonwealth commemoratives produced in 1977 that flooded the collector market simultaneously. The Reserve Bank commissioned the piece through the Royal Mint, which handled most Pacific island commemorative programs of this period. Most were sold directly into proof sets and never entered circulation, which explains why survivors almost universally appear in pristine condition — not a reflection of rarity, but of distribution method.
