A portrait of King George VI, derived from one of the last coinage effigies of his reign, appears to the right, while a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, taken from one of the first coins of her reign, appears to the left. St Edward's Crown, a centrepiece of the Crown Jewels, is prominently incorporated into the design above the paired effigies. Contoured lines emanating between the two portraits symbolise the dynastic bond between father and daughter. The legends H.M.
