Additional information

Mont-Saint-Michel has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, but Cook Islands chose it for this issue almost certainly because the subject sells — the Pacific nation's numismatic program is one of the most prolific collector-market operations in the world, routinely licensing European architectural and cultural imagery with no political or historical connection to the islands themselves. The "posthumous" designation reflects Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, making this among the first wave of Cook Islands issues to carry that attribution.
