| Reverse description | Frontal bust of Osiris, the ancient Egyptian god of the afterlife, depicted wearing the Atef crown adorned with a uraeus cobra and flanked by ostrich feathers, with a broad usekh collar at the neck. The god holds crossed the crook (heka) sceptre and the flail (nekhakha), emblems of divine rulership, their shafts forming an X across his chest. Behind the figure rises a large triangular pyramid rendered in relief brickwork, at the centre of which an inset rectangular cartouche displays a hieroglyphic scene. The upper field is filled with a register of Egyptian hieroglyphic symbols including the ankh, the Eye of Horus (Wadjet eye) at upper left and right, a scarab, canopic jars, and other sacred emblems. At the base of the composition stand four canopic jars flanking the central pyramid, above a winged scarab beetle, while the name OSIRIS is inscribed in bold block letters divided symmetrically across the left and right fields. |
