Operation Stonewall was a 1985 New Zealand Security Intelligence Service sting that caught Soviet KGB officer Vasily Gordievsky's network attempting to recruit a New Zealand citizen — one of the Cold War's quieter intelligence successes in the Pacific. Niue, as a self-governing state in free association with New Zealand, occasionally issues coins tied to New Zealand historical themes, lending this piece its nominal connection to the subject matter.
