Obverse description The obverse is divided diagonally into two contrasting fields: the upper half displays a proof-quality matte-black background against which the diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, modelled by Irene Rudd-Broadley, with the designer's initials IRB visible below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the right and NIUE ISLAND along the left. The lower half features a highly polished gold field bearing a central motif of a dove in flight, rendered in relief, with the denomination 10 DOLLARS and the date 2018 inscribed below. The fineness Au 999.9 appears to the left, and the Czech Mint mark is visible to the right of the bust.

Additional information

Niue's bullion and commemorative gold program operates under a licensing arrangement that allows the Pacific island nation — with a population under 2,000 — to issue coins that are legal tender in name but produced entirely for the collector and investor market. The "On Land" release belongs to a multi-part wildlife series commissioned through the New Zealand Mint, which handles design, production, and international distribution on Niue's behalf.

The .9999 fineness places it among the purest standard gold issues commercially available, matching the benchmark set by the Royal Canadian Mint's Maple Leaf program in 1982.
