The Nizaris are the largest branch of Ismaili Shia Islam, today led by the Aga Khan IV, and have no national currency of their own — making Niue's commemorative issues the closest thing to an "official" coinage the community has ever had. Niue has been one of the more prolific issuers of themed silver rounds dressed as legal tender since the 1990s, its arrangement with New Zealand giving it the authority to issue currency it will never actually circulate.
