Aanvullende informatie

The Niederwalddenkmal, completed in 1883 above the Rhine near Rüdesheim, was commissioned to commemorate the unification of Germany following the Franco-Prussian War. Its construction took over a decade and cost considerable political capital — Bismarck himself attended the unveiling, which was nearly derailed by an anarchist bomb plot targeting Kaiser Wilhelm I.

Solomon Islands has issued dozens of these miniature gold pieces featuring European monuments under royal portrait authority, a purely fiduciary exercise with no connection to the depicted subject.
