Obverse description The Nauruan coat of arms displayed centrally in the field, comprising a shield surmounted by a twelve-pointed white star symbolising the island of Nauru. The upper portion of the shield bears the chemical symbol for phosphorus, while the lower left quadrant depicts a frigate bird above a wave background and the lower right a flowering takamaka branch. The shield is supported by traditional symbols of the tribal chiefs — shark teeth, palm strings, and frigate feathers — and is topped by a ribbon inscribed NAOERO in Latin characters. A second ribbon forming the base of the achievement bears the national motto GOD'S WILL FIRST. The circular legend BANK OF NAURU · 2005 · runs along the periphery.

Reverse description A highly stylised eagle-form fibula rendered in relief at the centre of the field, depicting the body of the bird as a horizontally elongated, filigree-worked bar ornamented with granulation and circular bosses, with a prominent circular medallion at the centre and a hooked beak to the right. The piece is modelled after a Migration Period or early medieval Germanic brooch held in the collection of the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. The legend GERMAN NATIONAL MUSEUM arcs along the upper periphery in Latin capitals, while the denomination 10 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower periphery.
