The Mogao Caves near Dunhuang, China, contain one of the most significant caches of Buddhist art and manuscripts ever discovered — including the Diamond Sutra, the world's oldest dated printed book, sealed in Cave 17 around 1000 AD and rediscovered in 1900. Solomon Islands has issued numerous small-format gold pieces under licensing arrangements that have nothing to do with the issuer's geography or monetary history, and this is one of them.
