Reverse description The reverse presents a full-color printed depiction of a fireball streaking through the atmosphere against a deep amber and brown cosmic background, evoking the dramatic entry of a meteorite. In the upper right, a finely detailed relief rendering of the Neuschwanstein meteorite specimen is shown in silver against the colored field. The inscriptions NEUSCHWANSTEIN and GERMANY 2002 appear in the central field, identifying the meteorite's name and year of fall. A semicircular transparent capsule set into the lower portion of the coin contains actual fragments of the Neuschwanstein meteorite. The series title METEORITES-COSMIC FIREBALLS is inscribed in bold raised lettering along the lower periphery.
